Q.How do I book a dumpster with Talkin’ Trash?
A.We make it easy to get rollin’ with your dumpster rental! Here’s how you can book with us:

Q.How much notice do I need for a dumpster reservation? Do you offer same-day delivery?
A.Most of the time, next-day delivery is no problem. However, we recommend booking your dumpster 2–3 days in advance, especially for larger sizes, to make sure we’ve got what you need available.

Need it sooner?
Same-day delivery might be available if the size you need is in stock — just give us a shout!

Q.Can I cancel, reschedule, or extend my dumpster rental?
A.Absolutely—we know plans change, and we try to keep things as flexible as possible!

To cancel your reservation, just give us at least 24 hours’ notice before your scheduled delivery so we can remove it from our route. We’ll issue a full refund to your original payment method or offer you a credit toward a future rental. (Refunds typically take 5–7 business days to process.)

Need more time? No problem—just let us know at least 48 hours before your 14th day if you’d like to extend your rental. Extra days are just $10 per day.

Want to reschedule your delivery? Give us 24 hours’ notice and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferred date.

Finished early? Give us a call! We’ll try to pick it up the same day or next day, depending on scheduling—no extra charge.

Q.Do I have to keep my dumpster the whole time? What if I finish early?
A.Nope—you don’t have to keep it the full 14 days if you’re done sooner!

At Talkin’ Trash, our rentals include up to 14 days, so you’ve got plenty of time to tackle your project without rushing. But if you finish early, just call, text, or email us at talkintrashct@gmail.com, and we’ll schedule a free pickup within 24 hours (Monday through Friday)—no extra fees, no hassle.

Just a heads-up: early pickups don’t reduce the rental price, since pricing is based on dumpster size and weight, not rental duration.
Q.Where can I find my rental contract, receipt, or the list of prohibited items?
A.A. Right after you book your dumpster, we’ll email you a confirmation that includes:
– Your booking details
– A copy of your receipt
– A link to e-sign your rental contract
– A list of prohibited items
– Tips to help you avoid extra fees

Q.Are there any extra fees with my dumpster rental? When are they charged?
A.A. At Talkin’ Trash, we believe in straight-up pricing—no hidden surprises.

The price you see when booking covers:
– Delivery & pickup
– 14-day rental
– Up to 1 ton of disposal
– No sales tax (Dumpster rentals aren’t taxed in Connecticut!)

You’ll only see extra charges if:
Prohibited Items are found in the dumpster
– The dumpster exceeds the 1-ton weight limit
– It’s filled above the top edge and we can’t safely tarp it
– You extend your rental beyond 14 days
– We experience a failed delivery or pickup (e.g., the dumpster is blocked)

If any of these apply, we’ll charge the card on file after pickup and disposal.

We make it easy to avoid extra fees—everything’s clearly laid out in your confirmation email, and we’re always just a call, text, or email away.

Q.What forms of payment do you accept?
A.We accept all major credit and debit cards—Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
You can also pay cash or check at delivery.

Any extra fees (like overweight charges, prohibited items, or dry runs) will be automatically charged to the card on file after pickup.

Questions Regarding Delivery and Pick Up

Q.Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?
A.Not necessarily. It’s helpful if you’re home for delivery, so we can place the dumpster exactly where you want it.
If you can’t be there, just give us clear placement instructions when booking.

For pickup, you don’t need to be present—just make sure the dumpster is accessible and not blocked.

Placing a cone or object where you want the rear center of the dumpster is incredibly helpful.

Heads-up about the door:
If you need to open the rear door, leave at least 8 feet of clearance behind the dumpster.
The door opens from left to right when you're facing the back of the dumpster (where the door is).
Q.What time will my dumpster be delivered or picked up?
A.We plan our routes the day before, so while we can’t guarantee an exact time, we can provide a 2-hour delivery or pickup window upon request.

Got special timing needs—like business hours, gate access, or coordinating with other deliveries? Just let us know when you book, and we’ll do everything we can to work with your schedule.
Q.Will the dumpster damage my driveway or parking lot?
A.A. We get it—no one wants their driveway scratched up.
At Talkin’ Trash, our trucks are equipped with systems that gently lower the dumpster into place with control and care.

We also place wooden planks under dumpsters when we feel it’s necessary to help protect your pavement or blacktop.

Want to go the extra mile? You’re welcome to lay down your own plywood for added protection.

We always recommend placing the dumpster on a hard, level surface like asphalt or concrete.
If you're placing it on grass or dirt, just be aware that the weight of the dumpster—especially when full—can leave marks or ruts.

Q.When do you pick the dumpster up?
A.A. All Talkin’ Trash rentals include a 14-day rental period for our 12, 15, and 20-yard dumpsters.

Please call us when you are done with your dumpster so we can schedule a pickup. Pickups can happen anytime during the day, and you don’t need to be home—just make sure the dumpster is accessible.

We’ll send you email reminders as your pickup date gets close, so you’re always in the loop.

Not sure when your 14th day is? Check your confirmation email, or just call or text us at 860-604-1941.

Finished early? Let us know and we’ll pick it up sooner—free of charge.

Need more time? Just give us 48 hours’ notice to request an extension. Extra days are only $10/day.

Questions Regarding Dumpster Use

Q.How much can I put in my dumpster?
A.A. You can load your dumpster all the way to the top—just make sure everything is level with the rim and nothing is sticking out over the sides.

If your dumpster is overfilled, our driver may not be able to haul it safely. In that case, you’ll need to remove the excess before we can pick it up. Additional fees may apply if we have to handle the cleanup ourselves.

Overfilling = delays and extra charges.
Level loads = smooth pickup and no surprises.

Pro tip: Think you might run out of space? Check our rates and consider sizing up—it’s usually cheaper than overage fees and saves you the hassle.

Q.What can I put in my dumpster?
A.You can toss a whole lot in our dumpsters—stuff like:
– Furniture (couches, tables, chairs)
– Construction debris (wood, drywall, shingles)
– Household junk (clothes, toys, general trash)
– Clean-out & decluttering leftovers
– Yard waste

The following materials are not allowed in our dumpsters:
– Oils or liquids of any kind
– Food waste
– Large equipment tires or excavator tracks
– Completely full dumpsters containing concrete, asphalt, bricks, or dirt (These materials are extremely heavy and may exceed safe hauling limits)
– Hazardous waste of any kind (Including but not limited to chemicals, solvents, pesticides, and medical waste)
– Sand and dirt

If you're unsure whether an item is acceptable, please contact us before disposal to avoid additional fees.

Some items are accepted but come with extra disposal fees:
– Mattresses & box springs
– Refrigerators & A/C units
– Propane tanks
– Tires
– TVs & computer monitors

Q.Do your dumpsters have doors that open?
A.A. They sure do!
All of our dumpsters—12, 15, and 20 yards—come with a rear-swing door that’s about 8 feet wide, making it easy to walk in and load heavy or bulky items.

If you’re there during delivery, our driver will gladly show you how to open, close, and secure the door—super simple, super safe.

To open it yourself:
– Stand at the rear of the dumpster, facing it
– Remove the pin on the lower left
– Lift the handle to release the door

Walking your trash in makes loading a breeze—no lifting over the sides unless you want to!

Q.What items are prohibited or have extra disposal fees?
A.We play by the rules when it comes to safe dumping—and the transfer stations we work with do, too.

Some items can’t go in the dumpster at all, and others might come with an extra fee due to how they have to be handled.

Q.Can I throw away a mattress or box spring?
A.Yes—but a $50 fee per item applies.

Mattresses and box springs require special disposal, and the landfill charges us extra to handle them.

Want to skip the fee? We recommend recycling your mattress if possible—it’s often free or low-cost through local programs.
Q.What happens if my dumpster goes over the included tonnage?
A.Each dumpster rental includes 1 ton (2,000 lbs) of disposal. If you go over, you’ll only be charged for the exact amount of extra weight. For example, if your dumpster comes in at 1.11 tons, that’s 0.11 tons over — and at our current rate of $150 per ton, that would be just $16.50. No rounding up — you only pay for what you actually use.
